Emilia watched intently to the figures soaring through the air above the pitch. Her scarf was securely fixed around her neck, the bright yellow standing out against her black and grey school uniform, but it seemed to do little against the coolness of the growing evening. On the bench next to her were her two best friends, Henri and Johanna. She tried not to feel envious at the way the boys looked at them, reminding herself she would never say yes to a boy if they asked her out. She was a little awkward when it came to boys.
Maybe that was the reason behind her never plucking up the courage to talk to a certain seventh year Gryffindor. She sighed, her head falling into her gloved hand. A whoop sounded loud as a figure in blue shot past them. She shook her head, a smirk on her face.
"He most certainly like you, Jo." Henri that with a smirk on her pale features. Emilia rolled her eyes dramatically. It was one thing to think of her twin brother dating a person, it was another completely to think of him liking Johanna.
There was a joint practice on, and Henri had dragged them out there, promising it would be interesting. But so far, it had just been Ravenclaw sweeping their way around the pitch and Gryffindor hadn't even shown up yet. And she wasn't looking forwards to the comments when they did. The moment the Gryffindor team took to the air, Henri and Johanna were giggling and teasing. She couldn't help but feel a fluttering in her gut as Viktor flew past, and she gasped unintentionally and felt her cheeks burn.
It wasn't that he was charming, or good looking or clever that made her nervous. It was what he was. He was a muggleborn, a 'mudblood' in her parents eyes. And that meant he was offlimits to her. She was not allowed to 'fraternise with the enemy'. She sighed, and slumped against Johanna, watching the young man make his journey around the pitch.
